UT Service Engineer

Summary

Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division develops advanced manufacturing technologies that help customers accelerate innovation, improve productivity, and deliver the highest levels of quality through industry-leading inspection and production solutions. 
 
As a UT Service Engineer, you will provide technical service and support for Hexagon's Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspection systems throughout their lifecycle. You will install, commission, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize advanced inspection equipment while building trusted customer relationships and ensuring the highest levels of equipment reliability and customer satisfaction. 
 
Working independently and as part of a global service organisation, you will combine strong technical expertise with excellent customer service to maximise equipment performance and help customers achieve operational excellence. 

The role may require extensive domestic and occasional international travel, work at customer industrial facilities, lifting equipment, and flexible working hours. 

Job Responsibilities

Field Service Delivery 

  • Install, commission, calibrate, inspect, maintain, and repair Ultrasonic Testing (UT) systems and associated equipment. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance and annual equipment certifications. 
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, automation, and UT equipment issues. 
  • Conduct equipment health assessments and recommend improvements. 
  • Support upgrades, retrofits, and modernization projects. 
  • Participate in commissioning and customer acceptance activities. 

Customer Support 

  • Serve as the primary technical contact during field service activities. 
  • Deliver remote and on-site technical support. 
  • Build long-term customer relationships. 
  • Provide operator and maintenance training. 
  • Identify lifecycle support opportunities. 
  • Resolve customer issues promptly. 

Technical Documentation 

  • Complete service reports, calibration certificates, and technical documentation. 
  • Maintain equipment history and service records. 
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately. 
  • Share technical knowledge globally. 

Health, Safety & Quality 

  • Comply with HSEQ policies. 
  • Conduct service safely. 
  • Mitigate site risks. 
  • Maintain tools and assets. 
  • Support continuous improvement. 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Participate in ongoing training. 
  • Develop expertise across inspection technologies. 
  • Support new product introductions. 
  • Provide feedback to improve products and service. 

Qualifications

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline. 
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or industrial systems. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent customer service and communication. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Strong organisational skills. 
  • Valid driver's licence. 
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one. 
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including internationally. 
  • Commitment to safety and quality. 

Preferred 

  • Experience with Ultrasonic Testing (UT), NDT, or industrial inspection. 
  • Experience servicing industrial automation equipment. 
  • Knowledge of PLCs, controls, motion systems, and instrumentation. 
  • Ability to read schematics and drawings. 
  • Experience delivering customer training. 
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes.
