Job Description
Applications Engineer - Production Machining Software

Summary

If you know your way around a machine shop and a CAM system, this role puts that experience to work across the whole of UK manufacturing. As an Applications Engineer you will be the technical expert our customers turn to — solving real programming and machining problems, training their teams to get more out of the software, and showing prospective customers what is possible on their own components.

You will work with manufacturers of every size and in every sector, from subcontract machine shops to aerospace and medical manufacturers. No two weeks look the same: one week you might be resolving a post-processor issue and delivering a 5-axis training course, the next you could be programming a benchmark part that helps win a significant new customer.

Job Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to UK customers using Edgecam, NCSIMUL and our wider Production Machining portfolio.
  • Delivering product training on site, virtually and at our training facilities, tailored to each customer’s machines and parts.
  • Running product demonstrations and benchmarks alongside our Sales team, including at exhibitions and open-house events.
  • Building and maintaining CAM applications — post-processors, machine models, templates, tooling libraries and automation.
  • Getting to know your customers’ processes properly and giving proactive advice that improves how they manufacture.
  • Feeding customer insight back into our product teams so the software keeps getting better.

Qualifications

  • Solid all-round experience in manufacturing engineering — you understand machining, tooling and production in practice, not just in theory.
  • CAD/CAM and CNC programming experience. Edgecam and NCSIMUL are ideal, but if you have used other systems we will train you on ours.
  • Confidence with G&M code and CNC controls such as Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc and Mazak.
  • Strong communication skills and the credibility to work with everyone from apprentices to engineering directors.
  • A methodical, detail-focused approach, and a calm head when a customer is under production pressure.
  • A positive, self-starting attitude — you will have real autonomy in how you manage your week.
  • Willingness to travel as required, a full clean driving licence, and the right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis.

Nice to have

  • On-machine probing experience.
  • Multi-axis, mill-turn or multi-tasking machine experience.
  • Post-processor development or machine simulation model building.
  • Previous applications engineering, technical support, training or pre-sales experience.

What we offer

  • Full-time and permanent contract.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Company car included as part of the role.
  • Full training and certification on our software, and genuine scope to develop your career as your expertise grows
  • A collaborative, innovative work environment with cutting-edge technology.
