Sheet Metal Technical Manager (f/m/d)

Summary

We are seeking a Sheet Metal Technical Manager to lead the development, governance, and delivery of RADAN post processors and digital machine solutions across the Sheet Metal portfolio.

The role is responsible for managing the RADAN Post Processor team and prioritising development activities across RADAN Punch & Profile, RadTube, RadMax, and RADAN Bending technologies. This includes technical leadership, people management, backlog prioritisation, process governance, customer engagement, and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Service & Solutions, the successful candidate will help establish consistent global processes, strengthen collaboration across regional teams, and improve the delivery of machine solutions that support customer success and business growth.

The role will primarily be home-based, with a preference for candidates located in either the UK or the US. Occasional travel may be required to support customers, regional teams, resellers, workshops, and strategic business initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Delivery
    • Lead the development and maintenance of post processors across the Sheet Metal portfolio
    • Prioritise new development, maintenance requests, customer escalations, and strategic initiatives
    • Assess requirements, technical feasibility, and implementation approaches for new functionality
    • Review, test, and validate solutions to ensure quality, consistency, and maintainability
    • Support customer testing and acceptance activities where required
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Manage and coordinate a global team of post processor developers
    • Foster collaboration across Development, Support, Services, Product Management, regional teams, and resellers to align development activities with global standards and best practices
    • Provide technical coaching, guidance, and escalation support
    • Deploy best-practice development strategies established across the global Production Machining portfolio
  • Process & Governance
    • Improve and maintain processes covering development, version control, testing, documentation, release management, and support
    • Use Jira and Agile practices to manage backlogs, priorities, and delivery
    • Drive consistent global ways of working, clear ownership of post processor assets, and understanding of request submission, qualification, prioritisation, and tracking processes
  • Customer & Regional Engagement
    • Work closely with regional teams, resellers, Support, and Services to ensure requirements are clearly defined, priorities are balanced, and delivery expectations are aligned before development begins
    • Support customer escalations and technical discussions where post processor delivery impacts business performance or customer satisfaction
  • Digital Twins & Future Capability
    • Improve the management of digital twins, machine data, and related development assets
    • Support initiatives that simplify the creation, storage, and reuse of digital machine data
    • Promote the adoption of AI-assisted tools to enhance development, testing, documentation, and support processes
  • Commercial & Business Contribution
    • Support business growth through improved machine coverage, delivery efficiency, and reseller enablement
    • Monitor and report on KPIs including backlog, throughput, lead times, delivery performance, and development risks
    • Contribute to business cases for additional resources, tooling, and process improvements

Qualifications

  • Experience in software development, technical leadership, or development management
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, preferably RADAN or similar manufacturing solutions
  • Understanding of CNC machines, post processors, machine configuration, and NC code generation
  • Experience managing technical requirements through development, testing, and release
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar development management tools
  • Strong communication (English) and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to balance customer needs, business priorities, technical complexity, and available resources

 

Desirable Skills

  • Agile/Scrum and backlog management experience
  • Strong programming skills, ideally in C# or another object-oriented language
  • Knowledge of Git, DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing practices
  • Experience with GPP, YAFL, TCL, C#, or similar post processor technologies
  • Familiarity with digital twins, machine simulation, and automated NC generation
  • Experience introducing AI or automation into engineering processes
  • Experience working within global, matrix-based organisations
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
