Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Testing and Qualification

Summary

Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division develops advanced manufacturing technologies that help customers accelerate innovation, improve productivity, and deliver the highest levels of quality through industry-leading inspection and production solutions.

As a Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Testing and Qualification, you will lead the verification, validation, and qualification of embedded software supporting Hexagon's advanced industrial inspection systems. You will develop automated test frameworks, define software quality strategies, and ensure embedded applications meet the highest standards for performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance while collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Job Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Verification

  • Define verification and validation strategies for embedded software.
  • Develop software qualification plans.
  • Establish requirements traceability.
  • Define quality objectives, acceptance criteria, and release metrics.

Test Development & Automation

  • Develop automated test frameworks.
  • Create regression, integration, system, functional, and performance tests.
  • Build Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments.
  • Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Improve automation coverage.

Software Qualification

  • Perform functional, integration, regression, performance, and reliability testing.
  • Validate embedded software for imaging, communications, and real-time processing.
  • Verify software under representative operating conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with software quality standards.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead software quality initiatives.
  • Provide leadership in verification methodologies.
  • Mentor software quality engineers.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews.
  • Promote software quality best practices.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate across Software, FPGA, Systems, Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, and Product Engineering.
  • Perform defect analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Support release activities with quality metrics.
  • Contribute to New Product Introduction.

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve verification processes and automation frameworks.
  • Evaluate emerging testing technologies.
  • Support DevOps, Agile, and CI/CD initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in software quality.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
  • 8+ years experience in embedded software testing, QA, or verification and validation.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile.
  • Experience designing automated test frameworks.
  • Programming skills in Python, C#, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with functional, integration, regression, system, performance, and reliability testing.
  • CI/CD integration experience.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation.

Preferred

  • Embedded Linux or real-time systems testing.
  • Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
  • Industrial imaging or inspection systems.
  • Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Automated test equipment and lab instrumentation.
  • Safety-critical software standards.
  • Industrial automation, aerospace, metrology, robotics, or NDT.
  • AI-assisted software testing.
