Summary
The Technical Support & Application Engineer provides technical sales support for all applications of Hexagon products encompassing metrology, demonstration, functionality, and performance. In addition, the Technical Support & Application Engineer is responsible for product training, machine installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
Job Responsibilities
- Install, set up, and configure measurement instruments at client sites according to technical specifications and project requirements.
- Conduct pre-installation inspections and site surveys to assess space, infrastructure, and other requirements for equipment installation.
- Perform calibration, testing, and verification of various measurement instruments and equipment according to established procedures and standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with equipment performance, calibration, or accuracy.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues reported by customers. Conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify underlying problems and develop effective repair solutions.
- Perform repair, maintenance, and replace defective components or parts using appropriate tools, equipment, and techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of calibration and any service activities, including calibration reports, and services documentation.
- Conduct hardware and software product and complex custom demonstrations showcasing technical features and processes to prospective and existing customers
- Effectively communicate product benefits for complex applications
- Assist sales team in providing product recommendations for customers’ applications
- Prepare operating instructions and conducts training programs to meet customer’s needs
- Maintain positive customer relationships through effective interaction
- Ability to teach the highest-level training classes
- Develop programs/applications that effectively accomplish customer specifications/objectives
- Consults with customers and incorporates needs and feedback into application designs
- Provide technical support to customers
- Ensures programs/applications work properly after maintenance and testing
- Analyze and edit existing programs/applications as needed to optimize performance
- Take a challenging issue from problem statement through to resolution and follow-up
- Keep up with advancements in application engineering and new technologies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Focus in Penang office, northern region.
- Able to travel across the county to client sites to perform job mention above including overnight stays as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Degree Engineering in Mechanical / Mechatronic / Electrical & Electronic) or equivalent.
- 3 years’ experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar environmen
- Metrology knowledge or experience in inspection processes in Manufacturing environment Worked with CMMs or Quality process instruments
- Optional: CNC programming, CAD-CAM exposure, technical software training and support in the use of PC based toolsFresh graduates who are confident and fast learner are welcome to apply
