Summary
Our R&D department in Renens, VD, is currently looking for an R&D Application Engineer (f/m/d) to join the team!
In this role, you will contribute to the integration and testing of complete CMM systems and their components currently under development by other Hexagon R&D sites. Leveraging your understanding of customer needs, you will define and implement test applications required for new product integration. You will identify issues in a systematic way and collaborate with other experts to propose suitable solutions, and support Marketing and Service departments through your participation in key deliverables such as ISO part programs creation, and employment cases.
Job Responsibilities
- Participation in projects related to the integration of sensor products within the HEXAGON group (multi-sites): cost and schedule estimation, definition of requirements and acceptance criteria, reporting
- Collecting constraints, issues and customer needs and translating them into customer specifications
- Developing application programs for part measurement or ISO requirements
- Assessing the validity of customers' measurement process (MAS, GR&R, Cp/Cpk)
- Conducting hardware and software product demonstrations, including advanced/custom demos showcasing technical features and workflows
- Staying up to date with advancements in application engineering and new technologies
- Interfacing with the marketing or service departments about their deliverables (application notes, user guide, catalog, training, support)
- Performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting and proposing appropriate short- and long-term solutions together with the development team.
- Installing measuring machines or troubleshooting them in case of simple to complex issues
- Optimization test plans (DoE approach) according to cost, quality and schedule criteria
- Discuss with Product Management, stakeholders and challenge decisions when needed to ensure the customer perspective is fully considered
- Maintain the catalogue of use‑case parts, testing tools, scripts, and programs
- Ability to deliver technical training on PC‑DMIS or other technologies when required
Qualifications
- Degree in metrology, microengineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or an equivalent field
- Good knowledge of PC-DMIS/QUINDOS, or equivalent, and programming skills (Python, etc.)
- Experience integrating new products within the dimensional or precision-measurement industry
- Experience as a test engineer in technical and complex environments involving mechanics, electronics, software and ideally optics
- Knowledge of dimensional-measurement standards (e.g., ISO 10360) or similar
- Solid experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and sensors, especially Hexagon products or equivalent systems.
- Experience in software testing (unit, regression testing) is an asset
- Experience using Jira and Confluence; X-ray or TestRail is a plus
- Strong knowledge in measurement/metrology, the competitive landscape, the ability to understand customer needs
- Involvement in innovative or technology-driven projects.
- Language skills: English is a must, French and German are strong assets
