Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a Quality Technician I to join our Quality team in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

This is a hands-on quality inspection role responsible for ensuring manufactured components meet engineering drawings and customer specifications.

 

The successful candidate will perform dimensional inspections using manual inspection equipment and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), conduct First Article Inspections (FAI), evaluate supplier parts, and support manufacturing by identifying and resolving quality issues.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, experience reading engineering drawings, and a passion for precision measurement and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

Product Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections on components and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and inspection reports to determine product acceptance.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) on new products and supplier components.
  • Verify incoming materials meet engineering and quality specifications.
  • Support manufacturing by investigating non-conforming products and assisting with containment activities.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and evaluate defective components to determine potential root causes.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with procedure development and quality documentation.

Quality Systems

  • Support ISO Quality Management System activities.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and procedures.
  • Support supplier qualification activities when required.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of dimensional inspection experience in a manufacturing environment (3+ years preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred

  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Experience conducting First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
  • Experience with supplier quality inspections.
