Job Responsibilities
Enhance MSC Nastran’s linear dynamics (NVH) modeling and simulation capability. Engage with key domain experts to document complex use cases and translate them into high-level software specifications. Author design documents, work with multi-disciplined project teams, perform coding and DMAP development to implement software designs, test developed capabilities and assist in correcting any deficiencies. An ideal candidate should have a solid background in finite element based structural mechanics and dynamics. Manage and lead projects from inception through delivery.
- Perform design, implementation, system integration, documentation, and unit/system testing of Nastran’s dynamic analysis solutions
- Lead Nastran DMAP Developer
- Support legacy dynamic analysis in Nastran
- Project and technical management
- Serve as the dynamic analysis technical domain expert for Design & Engineering product portfolio.
- Author project and user documentation.
- Assist Product Management, Marketing and Field Teams in promoting MSC Nastran Dynamic Analysis product portfolio.
- Work with APEX and Patran teams to advance Nastran Pre- and Post- support.
- Correct defects in Nastran
- Ensure all deliverables meet established Product Quality Metrics and Guidelines.
- Assist QA and Project Testing teams with benchmarking and certification to ensure a successful and timely product release.
- Provide second-line support to MSC application/support engineers.
- May be asked to assist technical marketing and business development teams.
Qualifications
- Advanced Graduate degree in Aerospace, Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in modern computational structural dunamics methods and compute architectures.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in developing computational methods for Structural Mechanics and Dynamics, leveraging parallel computing methods.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in designing and developing finite element software
- Interfacing with engineering databases and HDF5 file systems.
- Minimum 5 years’ programing experience in C/C++/Fortran/Python
- Experience Preferred in:
- Strong theoretical knowledge of linear dynamics and substructuring methods for frequency and transient response analysis, especially in vibro-acoustics
- Sound knowledge of Linear Algebra and its application in computation structural dynamic analysis.
- Expert knowledge of Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus or Optistruct solvers preferred
- Nastran DMAP development
- Experience in advanced topics vibro-acoustics preferred
- Experience in re-architecting legacy CAE software a plus
- Engineering Simulation
- Demonstrated structural dynamic theoretical and modeling expertise
- Experience in modeling dynamic solutions in an industrial environment
- Strong understanding of numerical algorithms for structural mechanics
- Engineering software system design and architecture development
- C/C++/Fortran/Python/MATLAB programming
- Experience interacting with customers
- General knowledge of agile software engineering methodologies and practices
- Project planning and communication
- Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Requires minimal instructions on daily work and general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
- General oral and written communication skills in English, required
