About the Role:

The Calibration Technician is responsible for performing precision calibration and verification of advanced metrology systems and equipment, including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), laser trackers, and portable arms. This role ensures measurement accuracy and compliance with quality and industry standards. You will be part of the technical operations team, supporting both internal systems and customer-owned devices, contributing to Hexagon’s commitment to delivering reliable and precise measurement solutions.

Job Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

Perform precision calibration and verification of measurement equipment, including CMMs, laser trackers, and portable arms, using established procedures.

• Interpret and analyze calibration data and generate test reports to validate accuracy against manufacturer and industry specifications.

• Maintain detailed calibration records, certificates, and documentation in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and internal quality procedures.

• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of performance or measurement inconsistencies.

• Support the maintenance and certification of calibration standards and tools.

• Provide technical feedback to engineering and support teams to drive process improvements.

• Adhere to all safety standards and company policies during calibration and maintenance activities.

• Support internal and external audits related to metrology compliance and calibration systems.

 

Qualifications

• Associate degree in metrology, electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on calibration experience in a metrology or manufacturing environment.

• Strong understanding of dimensional metrology and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

• Familiarity with ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540 standards, and traceability requirements.

• Proficiency in using hand tools, calibration software, and precision measurement equipment.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and specifications.

• Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to quality.

• Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment as needed (up to 50 lbs).

Work Environment:

• This role operates primarily in a lab and factory environment. The calibration technician frequently works around high-precision mechanical equipment and may occasionally travel to customer sites for field calibration services.

• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and kneel.

• Manual dexterity is required for operating tools, instruments, and office equipment.

• Noise levels vary from quiet (lab/office) to moderate (factory floor).

• Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.

• On-site position with no remote work flexibility.
