Controller

Summary

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Controller for our Oakville, Canada location.

Description:

 

The Controller will assists the Regional Controller and the CFO with the financial affairs of HMI and other North American back-office entities by managing the General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, and Credit functions. The position is responsible for generating all financial reporting, including interim and final financial statements for the guidance of management.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Assist with annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide a system of management cost reports
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments and pricing decisions
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to direct reports.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of senior management, as well as business unit personnel
  • Ensure compliance with current Hexagon accounting standards and practices.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience 
  • MBA in accounting or business administration preferred 
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. 
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Collaborator: supports teammates and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • People skills. Ability to resolve conflicts, and provide support, leadership, and motivation.

  • Frequently in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasional bending/kneeling
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and adjust focus
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and customers

  • Job Environment: This role is in an office setting with standard equipment usage, including a computer, printer, copier and phone. Regular communication and frequent standing, walking, and utilizing office equipment are part of the job.
  • Vision: Necessary for document review and computer use, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Speech/Hearing: Sufficient for in-person and telephone communication.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for typing and writing is required, along with reaching.
  • Mobility: Adequate for medium to large office navigation.
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting/moving up to 10 pounds may be needed.
