About the Role
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align demand, capacity, and material availability to ensure on-time delivery and operational efficiency. This role partners cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Customer Service to optimise workflows, minimise disruptions, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the Portable Metrology Division.
Location: Novi, Michigan (On-site)
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain master production schedules based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and inventory targets.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to ensure material availability aligns with production plans.
- Monitor capacity constraints and adjust schedules proactively to mitigate risks to delivery commitments.
- Analyse production performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce lead times.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing and Engineering to support new product introductions and engineering changes.
- Maintain accurate data within ERP systems to ensure schedule integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Communicate schedule changes and potential risks clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support inventory optimisation initiatives to balance service levels with working capital objectives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an on-site office setting within a manufacturing facility. The role requires regular use of computers and office equipment. The employee may occasionally visit the production floor and must adhere to all safety protocols. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required.
