About the Role
The Lead Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to business leaders within the Portable Metrology Division. This role drives alignment between business objectives and people strategy, ensuring organizational capability, talent development, performance management, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives support divisional growth and operational excellence.
This position operates at a senior professional level and partners closely with leadership, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and HR Operations to deliver measurable business outcomes. This is a hybrid position based in the Novi, MI office.
Job Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Partner with division leaders to develop and execute people strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers on performance management, employee development, workforce planning, and organizational design.
- Lead talent review, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
- Drive employee engagement strategies and support a culture of accountability, innovation, and inclusion.
- Provide expert consultation on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant practices.
- Collaborate with Total Rewards to support compensation planning, internal equity, and merit processes.
- Support organizational change initiatives including restructures, acquisitions, and transformation efforts.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to inform strategic workforce decisions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
Qualifications
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including direct HR business partner experience supporting senior leaders.
- Demonstrated experience in organizational design, workforce planning, and talent management.
- Strong employee relations experience with the ability to manage complex situations.
- Experience advising leadership in a manufacturing, industrial, or technology-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical capability with experience leveraging HR data to drive business decisions.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting field-based or distributed teams.
- Experience within advanced manufacturing, metrology, or industrial technology environments.
- HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting change management initiatives in growing or transforming organizations.
- Experience working within a global matrixed organization.
Work Environment
- This role operates in a hybrid work environment, combining office-based work in Novi, Michigan with remote flexibility.
- The employee will frequently work in a stationary position and utilize standard office equipment including a computer, phone, and printer. Regular communication with employees and leadership is required. Occasional visits to production or operational areas may occur.
- Vision abilities include close vision and focus adjustment for computer use. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required. Travel may be required up to 10%.
