Calibration Technician II, Division Portable Metrology

Summary

 

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a Calibration Technician II, Division Portable Metrology  to join our team in Novi,MI (Onsite).

 

Functional Summary

 

Performs calibration and certification of the Portable product line models of Arms, Trackers, NextSense, and AICON Scanners to applicable standards.  Carries out inspections, calibrations, and repairs on highly specialized equipment.  Identifies faulty equipment and suggests upgrades when necessary.  Works quickly and methodically to ensure equipment is safe for operation and calibrated to the industry standards

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Understands the Metrology Portable Service ISO 17025 Quality Systems
  • Performs accurate, correct, and repeatable calibrations of customer equipment to appropriate standards
  • Document and report results, provide certification traceable to N.I.S.T and ISO 17025 standards
  • Maintains company equipment in good working order
  • Ensures equipment selected for use is calibrated and current
  • Has a complete understanding of SMax and can complete SMax calibration reports
  • Document calibration process and prepare reports, as required
  • Performs calibration and approves products and accessories that meet tolerances and product specifications
  • Manage repair and calibration of assessment tools and measurement of equipment
  • Administers all calibration methods and procedures
  • Manages workload to achieve production schedules and ensure completion within timeframe
  • Prepares all documentation applicable for various assignments
  • Completes all business tasks within timeframe and ensures optimal quality
  • Develops all reports and certificates pertaining to calibration
  • Performs inspection and calibrates all tooling equipment using electronic and pressure equipment and ensure accuracy
  • Assists various departments to resolve and repair of equipment which determine precision
  • Gathers and documents data records related to calibration
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of company’s products and understanding of structure
  • Remains current with industry trends and best practices
  • Remains current with skills by attending training classes, independent research, and seminars as needed
  • Point person assigned to complete mid-scale comprehensive project related tasks
  • May mentor less experienced Calibration Technicians’ developing their skill/knowledge through advice, coaching, and training opportunities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities

 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in Calibration of PCMM's and/or Machine repair
  • Experience using hand tools
  • Understanding of SMax
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail, organized and self-motivated
  • Works independently as well as in a team environment

  • Frequently in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasional bending/kneeling
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects
  • Regularly move around the office and occasionally the factory floor
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and adjust focus
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and customers

  • Primarily an office setting with occasional visits to the factory floor
  • Office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated
  • Office noise levels are considered low to moderate
  • Factory noise levels are considered moderate
  • If required, PPE will be provided
  • No travel required

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 – 5 years of related experience
