Calibration Technician I, Division Portable Metrology

The Calibration Technician I is responsible for supporting the calibration and certification of portable metrology equipment, including Arms, Trackers, NextSense, and AICON Scanners. This role ensures equipment meets ISO 17025 and NIST traceability standards while developing technical expertise under moderate supervision.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in performing accurate, repeatable calibrations of customer equipment to applicable standards
  • Support documentation and reporting of calibration results with traceability to NIST and ISO 17025
  • Maintain and verify calibration status of all equipment used
  • Assist with SMax calibration reports and documentation processes
  • Support repair and calibration of measurement tools and assessment equipment
  • Prepare documentation for calibration and service assignments
  • Ensure tasks are completed within defined timelines and quality standards
  • Maintain working knowledge of company products and metrology principles
  • Participate in team-based projects and assignments
  • Continuously develop technical skills through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience
  • Remain current with industry trends, tools, and best practices

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or equipment repair preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools
  • Experience with PCMM calibration and/or machine repair preferred
  • Working knowledge of SMax preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Frequently in a stationary position for extended periods; occasional bending and kneeling
  • Manual dexterity required for tools, equipment, and computer use
  • Regular movement between office/lab and factory floor environments
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Work Environment

  • Frequently communicates with team members and customers
  • Primarily office and laboratory setting with occasional factory floor exposure
  • Clean, orderly, and well-lit workspace
  • Noise levels range from low to moderate (higher in factory areas)
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided as required
  • No regular travel required
