Summary

As a Custom Solutions Application Engineer within Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, you will use your technical and problem-solving skills to identify, develop, and deliver dependable software solutions for a diverse customer base.

This role takes an end-to-end approach to custom solution delivery. You will work with new customer requests to understand requirements, define the scope of work, develop and configure solutions, test and debug applications, and support successful implementation. You will also maintain and enhance existing software plug-ins and applications to help ensure they continue to meet customer and business needs.

The successful candidate will combine software development capabilities with strong customer communication skills and an understanding of manufacturing environments. This position works collaboratively across customer-facing and software development teams to help customers solve technical challenges and maximize the value of Hexagon solutions.

What You'll Do

• Provide pre-sale and post-sale technical support for custom software solutions, applications, and integrations.
• Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into appropriate solution requirements and scopes of work.
• Develop, configure, test, debug, implement, and support custom software solutions for customers and industry partners.
• Maintain and enhance the existing portfolio of RADAN plug-ins and automation software.
• Collaborate with software development teams and provide customer and market insights that can contribute to the continued development of core products.
• Create and maintain technical documentation supporting custom applications, integrations, implementations, and customer use.
• Provide technical guidance and support to customers throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot software, database, networking, integration, and application-related issues and identify practical solutions.
• Build and maintain effective business relationships with customers, colleagues, and partners across the manufacturing sector.
• Work cross-functionally with sales, services, software development, support, and other internal teams to deliver effective customer solutions.
• Manage multiple customer requirements and development activities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and appropriate documentation.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant software development technologies, manufacturing workflows, and Hexagon solutions.
• Travel to customer or Hexagon locations as required, up to approximately 20%.

Qualifications

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant programming and professional experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in software development, application engineering, technical solutions, programming, or a related field.
• Programming experience and an understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience working with databases, SQL, reporting, and software applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues involving software, databases, applications, or networked environments.
• Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to approach technical challenges pragmatically.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while effectively managing priorities and customer commitments.
• Dependable high-speed internet access appropriate for a remote working environment.
• Ability to travel up to approximately 30%.

Nice to Have

• Experience with one or more of the following technologies: C#, C++, VB.NET, VBA, REST APIs, WPF, DevExpress, Visual Studio, TFS, or Git.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software or related manufacturing software.
• Experience with RADAN CAD/CAM solutions, including RadBend or RadTube.
• Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or similar CAD platforms.
• Knowledge of NC programming and G-code.
• Practical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including laser cutting, punching, tube cutting, or forming.
• Experience with manufacturing quoting processes or applications.
• Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or MES systems and their role within manufacturing environments.
• Experience integrating manufacturing software with other business or production systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing industry processes and workflows.
• Spanish-language skills.

Work Environment

This is a remote position based in the United States. The employee will primarily perform work using a computer and other standard office technology in a remote work environment and must maintain dependable internet connectivity appropriate for the responsibilities of the position.

The role requires regular virtual collaboration with customers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams. Travel of up to approximately 30% may be required for customer engagements, implementations, meetings, training, or other business needs. Travel requirements may include air and ground transportation and overnight stays.
