Quality Manager

Summary

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Quality Manager for our North Kingstown location. This is an On-site position.

About the Role

 

The Quality team works to maximize customer satisfaction and Hexagon profitability through the development, management, and continuous improvement of the business. The Quality Manager leads the Quality team to promote the organization’s quality and process improvement efforts. The Quality Manager ensures safety, quality and productivity standards are maintained in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Quality Manager leads the continuous improvement effort and certification systems in conformance with ISO programs. The Quality Manager leads the Quality team to work together with cross functional teams to determine root cause and corrective actions for any nonconformances in material or workmanship of our products and processes.

What You'll Do

  • Promotes a team atmosphere, quality achievement, process improvement, and the quality mindset throughout the organization. 
  • Develop, Mentor, and oversee staff in the performance of their day-to-day activities. 
  • Actively collaborates with cross functional teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization that affect the Quality, Safety, and Environmental impact of our product. 
  • Assists production staff in the resolution of safety, quality and productivity issues. 
  • Interfaces with customers and the service organization managing quality issues to resolution. 
  • Collaborates with engineering, operations, and external suppliers to establish quality requirements, ensure compliance, and product conformance. 
  • Establishes and maintains an effective Quality Management System. 
  • Formulates and manages the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and systems pertaining to Quality. 
  • Recommends new or improved quality control methods, policies, procedures, and/or standards. 
  • Ensures the organizations continued certification and accreditation activities. 
  • Manages internal, external, and customer audits and presents results to the organization. 
  • Liaison with customers and staff to facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions. 
  • Reviews issue trends and statistical analysis; advising on disposition and improvement actions. 
  • Identifies training needs, creates training material and conducts training programs on quality activities in areas such as continuous improvement tools, ISO programs and vendor qualification management. 
  • Audits operational processes to determine capabilities and performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and verify improvement results are sustained. 
  • Maintains current knowledge of technical skills by attending training classes, technical and administration courses, independent research, seminars, exhibits and trade shows, as needed. 
  • Occasional travel to customers, vendors, trade shows or other Hexagon locations as required. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree. 
  • Advanced knowledge of metrology, statistics and industrial practices. 
  • Systematic problem-solving skills to solve complex issues. 
  • Ability to participate and provide leadership on teams and maintain positive work environment with those teams. Understands team functions, leadership techniques and project management methodologies. 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, 8D Problem Solving, Lean Manufacturing and TQM is preferred. 
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO17025 standard requirements 
  • 10 + years of technical experience, 2+ Years of supervisory/management experience, preferred 
  • Team player: supports teammates and colleagues. 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation). Understands how to present information to varying levels within the organization. 
  • Strong people skills. Ability to resolve conflicts, provide support, leadership, and motivation. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Ability to supervise work of Quality personnel. 
  • General project management and leadership experience.

  • Frequently in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasional bending/kneeling 
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and adjust focus 
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and customers 

 

Work Environment

  • Primarily an office setting, with occasional visits to the factory floor  
  • Office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated  
  • Office noise levels are considered low to moderate 
  • Factory noise levels are considered moderate 
  • If required, PPE will be provided 
  • May require travel up to 25% to customers, Suppliers and other HMI facilities
