Summary
The Senior Account Executive - Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) will be responsible for driving revenue growth and market expansion for Hexagon Production Software across across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The role focuses on developing new business opportunities, managing strategic customer relationships, growing key accounts, increasing software adoption, and expanding Hexagon's presence within the manufacturing sectors (automotive, aerospace, general manufacturing, medical devices, electronics).
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, prospects, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders to establish Hexagon as a trusted technology partner while identifying new avenues for growth across the region.
Job Responsibilities
- Direct Sales & Business Development
- Drive new business acquisition and revenue growth across the assigned territory.
- Identify, develop, and close opportunities within target industries including manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics, and general engineering.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to achieve quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Lead the complete sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through negotiation and closing.
- Develop and execute territory growth plans to increase market penetration and market share.
- Key Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers and key decision-makers.
- Create and execute account growth plans for existing customers.
- Identify opportunities for software expansion, upgrades, and cross-selling across the Hexagon Production Software portfolio.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts to understand business objectives and future requirements.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term loyalty.
- Customer & Market Development
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their manufacturing challenges and business objectives.
- Promote Hexagon's software solutions through customer visits, presentations, demonstrations, and workshops.
- Represent Hexagon at industry events, exhibitions, conferences, and customer forums.
- Gather market intelligence, competitor information, and customer feedback to support regional growth strategies.
- Strengthen Hexagon's brand presence and visibility throughout the territory.
- Academia & Industry Engagement
- Develop relationships with universities, technical colleges, engineering schools, and research institutions.
- Promote the adoption of Hexagon technologies within academic and vocational training programs.
- Support initiatives that increase awareness of digital manufacturing and engineering technologies among future industry professionals.
- Collaborate with educational institutions to build long-term awareness and demand for Hexagon solutions.
- Channel Collaboration
- Collaborate with existing sales partners and resellers to support customer success and regional growth opportunities.
- Identify strategic coverage gaps and recommend opportunities to strengthen regional market reach when needed.
- Internal Collaboration & Forecasting
- Work closely with technical, pre-sales, marketing, and customer success teams to maximize customer outcomes.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, account, and forecast information within CRM systems.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, business updates, and market insights to management.
- Contribute to regional growth strategies and execution plans.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary qualification (e.g., 2-year degree/diploma or higher) in Business Management, Sales, Engineering, Technology, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- At least 3-5 years of successful B2B software sales experience.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in direct sales, business development, and key account management.
- Experience selling CAD/CAM, CNC, manufacturing software & engineering software solutions.
- Experience operating within Sub-Saharan African markets is advantageous.
- Fluency in English is required; Afrikaans language skills are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the assigned territory.
