Lead Development Engineer

Summary

 

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking  Lead Development Engineer.(Remote - US and Canada)

Position Overview

 

We are seeking a Data-Centric Lead Developer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade data solutions. In this role, you will focus on schemas, data models, REST APIs, OpenAPI documentation, microservices integration, and data management practices that ensure reliability, scalability, and quality. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver robust and future-ready data platforms.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Schema & Data Modeling
    • Design and implement conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
    • Create schemas and canonical structures for consistency across systems.
    • Optimize data models for scalability, performance, and usability.
  • Data Management
    • Implement practices for data governance, quality, security, and lifecycle management.
    • Ensure metadata, lineage, and documentation are maintained.
    • Support master and reference data management initiatives.
  • API & Microservices Development
    • Develop and integrate REST APIs to access and distribute data.
    • Use OpenAPI/Swagger to design, document, and standardize APIs.
    • Contribute to building and maintaining data-centric microservices.
    • Ensure APIs follow best practices in versioning, security, and scalability.
  • Database & Platform Development
    • Build and maintain databases, warehouses, and data platforms.
    • Write and optimize SQL/NoSQL queries for performance and accuracy.
    • Apply automation for data validation and consistency checks.
  • Collaboration & Delivery
    • Work with data architects to enforce enterprise data standards.
    • Partner with product teams to ensure data availability and trustworthiness.
    • Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement in data development.

Qualifications

 

Required:

 

  • 8+ years of experience in data development or engineering.
  • Strong expertise in schema design, data modelling, and data management.
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and microservices.
  • Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
  • Programming knowledge in Typescript, Python

 

Preferred:

 

  • Experience with data governance frameworks and metadata management.
  • Familiarity with data mesh or data fabric approaches.
  • Strong analytical and optimization skills.
