Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking - Applications Engineer III. This is a remote role.

Job Responsibilities

Support – (50 % Time spent)

• Collaborate closely with customers to help their manufacturing process to aid in the implementation of the software. Provide machining guidance to company personnel as needed.
• Provide customer support in all disciplines of the software like technical installation, simulation, licenses, tool database, and optimization.
• Help customers in troubleshooting manufacturing problems and implementing solutions to keep machines producing conforming parts and making tool design improvements.
• Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Become an expert at the CLS licensing system, troubleshooting, and IT solutions, demonstrating a strong foundation in C# language.
• Manage cases through Salesforce and Jira prioritizing and testing new functionalities crucial to the US customer base.
• Monitor CSAT customer satisfaction scores and minimize open case times.

Training – (25% Time spent)

• Perform customer startup training and transfer technical knowledge of the product on their new CNC equipment both online and at the customer’s facility.
• Demonstrate a strong ability for clear and concise communication as customers get up to speed.
• Keep technical documentation up to date and enhance training modules with new features.
• Develop tips & tricks videos for commonly occurring roadblocks.
• Maintain strong customer relationships ensuring SMA renewal year-over-year.

Applications – (25% Time spent)

• Develop, design, and deliver complex CNC machines (mill-turn and 5 axis machines) in different NC controls (Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain, Okuma) using the company proprietary CNC verification/simulation software for customer production projects to fit simulation behavior of real CNC machines, avoiding crashes, saving customers time and money.
• Design and validate the CNC machine and understanding its kinematics, programming it to customer’s needs, simulating, and optimizing the G and M codes.
• Keeps track of delays, quality, and customer satisfaction during and after deliveries of the virtual machine.
• CAD modeling of machine kinematics for virtual machines based on real time measurements. Interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
• Assist in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures, and special equipment for CNC applications.
• Optimize existing NC programs to reduce machining time and increase productivity using different optimization techniques (optimize feed rate and air cuts).
• Assist the team and resellers by preparing NCSIMUL presentations and targeted demonstrations for prospective end users and their senior managements.
• Recommend technical solutions; provide training and maintain virtual machine development knowledge with the R&D team.

• Primarily an office setting, with occasional visits to the customer shops
• Office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated.

• Customer shop noise levels are considered moderate.
• If required, PPE will be provided.
• Ability to travel up to 30%

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant technical field
• 5+ years of related experience
• Previous experience in an Application Engineering role strongly preferred
• Proficiency in C# or similar programming language preferred
