Job Description
AI Transformation Project Leader

Summary

Help turn AI opportunities into practical business outcomes across Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence business area. In this role, you'll identify where artificial intelligence can improve business processes, data, systems and ways of working, then translate those opportunities into structured projects with clear objectives, measurable outcomes and successful delivery.

As the AI Project Manager – Strategic Initiatives, you will coordinate strategic AI initiatives from concept through implementation, bringing together business stakeholders, technology teams and subject-matter experts to ensure priorities are clearly defined, projects are well governed and value is realised.

This is a new individual contributor role that combines project leadership, business transformation and practical AI knowledge. While you do not need to be an AI engineer, you should understand how AI technologies can be applied within an enterprise environment, recognise when AI is the right solution—and when it isn't—and confidently lead initiatives that improve how the organisation operates.

You will also help connect information across customer, sales, marketing and operational systems, enabling a more unified view of the business while supporting Hexagon's broader AI strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess and prioritise opportunities where AI can improve business processes, systems, data and decision-making across the organisation.
  • Coordinate strategic AI projects from concept through implementation, ensuring clear objectives, milestones, owners, dependencies, risks and measurable business outcomes.
  • Translate strategic priorities into structured project plans, workstreams and practical delivery roadmaps.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand business challenges and determine whether AI, automation, process redesign or systems improvements provide the best solution.
  • Develop approaches to connect information across disconnected systems, improving visibility into customers, markets and business performance.
  • Explore process mining and business process analysis to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate AI tools and platforms against business requirements, including technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT, working with technical specialists to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Work with subject-matter experts to understand AI concepts, capabilities and limitations, translating technical discussions into clear business language.
  • Assess solution quality, governance and enterprise security considerations throughout project delivery.
  • Manage project governance including status reporting, budgets, risks, issues, decisions, dependencies and executive communications.
  • Facilitate workshops and cross-functional working sessions that move ideas into actionable initiatives.
  • Prepare concise presentations, business cases, project updates and decision papers for leadership.
  • Track project progress using agreed KPIs and business outcome measures, identifying barriers early and driving resolution.
  • Build strong relationships across business functions and countries, adapting communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support portfolio prioritisation by evaluating initiative value, resource requirements, dependencies and organisational readiness.
  • Capture lessons learned, reusable methodologies and best practices to improve future AI programme delivery.
  • Stay current with developments in artificial intelligence, automation and digital transformation, bringing practical ideas and informed recommendations to the business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Business Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in project management, programme management, business transformation, consulting or strategy execution.
  • At least 1–2 years delivering AI, machine learning, analytics, automation or data-driven transformation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, workstreams, dependencies and competing priorities.
  • Strong project planning, governance and delivery skills with experience using Agile, Scrum or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Practical understanding of AI concepts including:
    • Large Language Models (LLMs)
    • Prompt engineering
    • Model lifecycle
    • Training versus inference
    • AI evaluation
    • Basic MLOps concepts
  • Experience leading projects involving AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT to drive meaningful business process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking capability with the ability to evaluate business problems beyond technology alone.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with enterprise data, digital platforms and technology-enabled business processes.
  • Understanding of enterprise security, responsible AI and data governance considerations.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
